Due to high pressure, an inversion layer, dampness and bonfire night.

It's something to take quite seriously I guess after the 2011 M5 multi vehicle collision.

Chilly here as well ~ was down to -2.1C at 2.23am. Much scraping of the car this morning!

blackeyedsusie · 06/11/2014 13:57

the roof of the electric shed had frozen over last night and there wasa white frost first light. soon melted though.

Warnings have gone amber for some very heavy rain in parts of western Scotland.

WTF is an "electric shed", Susie??

We had frost here in the midlands too (also curious about the electric shed!)

blackeyedsusie · 06/11/2014 23:26

substation in the grounds of the flats. I look down on the roof.

blackeyedsusie · 06/11/2014 23:27

thought it must have been an early morning post, but no, 2 in the afternoon. oops Blush

fuckweasel · 06/11/2014 23:37

We are getting hammered on the west coast of Scotland. Already flooding and another 12 hours of rain due.

GloriaSmud · 07/11/2014 06:48

Dark and wet here (Leicester) Temperature completely different to yesterday morning ~ 12.1C.
Hope those in the warning areas keep safe today.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/11/2014 08:27

That makes more sense Susie!

It does look rough up there Fuckweasel and relatively soon after the last deluge you had. Not great. It seems that you saved all of your summer rain for the autumn rather than spreading it out more evenly!

rain warnings which are not going to make a lot of firework part attenders very happy but actually it's the wind that concerns me more with respect to fireworks.

lots of heavy, blustery rain on the S coast tonight. I thought I heard strong winds earlier but it seems to have died down.

Looking at the National Grid figures, wind generated power is only 0.7GW at the moment, which is very low, so the rest of the country must be calm (it has recently been 4 to 5 GW, which is nearly as much as the Nuclear stations are producing this autumn). Hydro is far less, but more than usual for this time of night, so I deduce it must have been raining in Scotland recently and they are using up the excess.

PigletJohn · 10/11/2014 00:53

...and now, rolling thunder

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/11/2014 11:09

this weeks rain warnings

concentrated in the SW and central southern England. Will be accompanied by gales at times.

Its been a pretty good season for wind power generation!
