Metoffice to build a new 'supercomputer'

That's rather good. I'd never heard of an exabyte before though!

It had better work ~ can you imagine taking something that weighs 140 tonnes back to the shop and asking for a refund!

I wonder how they will do the switchover - the computer they use at present is enormous and fills the room. Will they build a new building for it.....? I guess so and run the models in tandem for a bit perhaps. I was reading about its capabilities and it's a big step up, a model run every hour rather than 6 hours and a significantly smaller grid size.

I'm silly excited about this.
