Wot no rain, and why do forecasts always underestimate temperature?

I live in Bristol. We haven't had any proper rain for 2 weeks, and I wondered if there's any sign off this changing soon? Also, the met forecasts have been saying 22/23 degrees, so why are my outside thermometers recording temperatures in the high 20s, and why does it feel so hot?

Was very warm yesterday but not muggy. 16 degrees already today but grey skies.
Air temperature forecast is always in the shade.

Forecast for later in the week is for it to cool down and for rain ~ hope it's a decent amount as I'm desperately watering a garden and allotment at the moment!

If you're in a city, I think this might be a contributing factor to the higher temperatures than forecast as well.

It turned very muggy/humid/ oppressive yesterday until 4.30pm, then it rained later which I was pleased about as didn't need to water pots and newly planted bedding flowers.
This morning is misty with no air movement atm and 14 degrees.

We had our first rain in a couple of weeks yesterday evening in the form of a thundery shower. More is forecast at the end of the week ~ all good for the garden and allotment. Glastonbury looks like it could become its usual 'mudfest' this weekend as a result of thundery showers though.

Thermometers in the sun absorb heat just like bonnets of cars get hotter than the air temperature. The only way to measure air temp is to have it in the shade.

Having said that, the met office did underestimate the max temps this week I feel.

I was out in the garden in my shorts and t-shirt but the weather on my phone said the current temperature was 8 degrees.

Isn't it supposed to be hoying it down all today?

On the south coast here - apart from a light sprinkle at about 0830, it has been sunny, warm and dry with moderate breezes.

I have all the windows open and the sound of cathedral bells drifting in - it's bloody lovely. I was expecting to be holed up with a black-and-white film and cocoa this afternoon.

Camping in suffolk. I think we've got all the rain. And thunder. And lightening. And Mosquitos.
