Some very interesting looking storms on the radar north of coalville. Perhaps some large damaging hail.

Very worth looking at TORRO's facebook page for an analysis and a map.

Reports very welcome.

We had thunder at about 9am here in Worcestershire, and it chucked it down. Now it is scorchio and sunshine......

The waterproofs worked

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 09/06/2014 15:54

We had torrential rain at around 11am - but it stopped very quickly & it has been sunny ever since. South Staffs by the way.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/06/2014 15:57

Well done ouryve :)

We just got some rain at about 2pm. Its still a little overcast but there is some blue sky peeping through now. We were right on the very edge of the area marked though.

S.Herts

Has been extremely humid and oppressive today. They forecast fresher and cooler tomorrow - thank goodness!!

SpottieDottie · 09/06/2014 16:18

Same here Sparklingbrook shorts and t-shirt on and out in the garden tonight I reckon :)

"Looks like a region not far from Gainsborough to close to scunthorpe is at risk from the worst of the storms at present."

I'm in South Yorkshire, but close to the Lincs border - it was really bad here. Torrential rain, strong winds, hail and thunder/lightening for about two hours.

It's all stopped now though and the sun out :)

Armi · 09/06/2014 17:05

It was horrendous in the Retford area at about 2ish - my mother, DD and I were in the car travelling back from S Yorks. I've never seen anything like it - massive hailstones, torrential, torrential rain, scary winds. We couldn't see a thing and the noise of the hailstones was frightening. Really deep, fast flowing water. I'm not altogether sure we weren't in something tornado-ish at one point. My mother is older than God and says she has never experienced anything like it. We're made of fairly stern stuff but when we finally parked in the garage both of us were shaking wrecks. DD slept through it!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/06/2014 19:27

Armi that sounds very scary. i wouldnt like to be in a car in those conditions. I hope you are both feeling less Shock now.

saskia, you were in a good position for the train of storms.

Please could you fill in a report form for TORRO TORRO use the information to help understanding of british storms and how they form. It also helps them in being able to improve forecasting of such events.

No storms materialised for us this afternoon but it has gone very overcast and is still humid here. I don't think my vacuum cleaner likes this humid weather as it keeps overheating and switching off ~ maybe it's telling me it's too hot to do housework!
Looking over Europe way, there's a monster storm showing up on the Belgium/German border at the moment.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 10/06/2014 12:53

I can't see the form - is it on that page or do I need to look for a link?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/06/2014 12:59

Thats cos I'm a plonker saskia and put in the wrong link Grin It's here so sorry!!!

Beautiful today with clean air for a change. Blue skies make such a difference to the quality of the airSmile

SouthernComforts · 10/06/2014 15:13

Warm and sunny N.Manchester.

But was on the phone to my friend 4 miles away and she was having torrential rain whilst I was sat in my garden!

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 10/06/2014 15:28

Thanks! Thought it was my browser being odd :)

I've filled it in - hope it's useful!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/06/2014 22:15

Thank you so much. Sorry for the daft moment I seem to be having a collection of them!

Also in Preston yesterday. Amazing thunderstorm, not seen lightning like it for years. Kids were spellbound!

No thunderstorms here but another lovely sunny day with clean air.
The breeze is supposed to disappear tomorrow and become humid again with more overcast skies < grizzle face>
