The jet stream and the rain

Hello weather experts

I watched the bbc weather earlier and they mentioned the jet stream had moved south ,sticking us under a low, which is responsible for the coming rain.

Just wondering if the jet stream is likely to move again? And what needs to happen for this to happen.

Also wondering if the warm weather is likely to return after this wet spell.

What determines the jet streams position isnt fully understood but one of the drivers appears to be the pressure difference between the icelandic low and the azores high (north atlantic oscillation).

So far this summer we have been in a negative nao meaning that the pressure difference is weak and the jet stream becomes week and meandering and more prone to be 'blocked' so that in any one area you end up with a long run of either the jetstream over you or being in a loop about which the jetstream meanders over you. We are going to end up in the position where it is somewhere over the uk. We need a nice high pressure to shove it out of the way.

Netweather have a Jetstream forecast here. I think I need to do some reading up about the whole Jetstream thing ~ from what I understand the Jetstream is just one of similar 'streams' in the atmosphere that happen all over the world.

There are 4 jet streams as I understand, two in each hemisphere - a polar jet stream and a weaker subtropical jet stream.
