Scary stuff isn't it.

I was looking at the weather in an area of California where my family live- and they have it hot too. not quite as hot as in Arizona, but 45C for most of this week is pretty bloody hot.

Terrible tragedy. Shock Sad That is one thing we can't moan about in UK that other parts of the world have to contend with.

Friends lived in El Paso, and said as it is desert climate and the air is dry and not humid, it doesn't feel so hot and uncomfortable.
I would think that Arizona also has a dry heat, but that can be more dangerous for wild fires than humid heat?

Just read your link and my assumptions were correct. Nature is a formidable enemy to fight and with sudden changes of unforseeable wind directions too with fires, puts the fire fighters at the highest risk of danger.

That is an awful tragedy, my heart goes out to the firefighters and their families,my ds3 is a London firefighter and although we are lucky in this country that we don't have events like this, it makes me realise how much danger they can be walking into,God bless them all.

links to weather conditions which show a continuing risk of thunderstorms in the area but with lots of uncertainty about moisture levels.

Thanks badkitten, his only claim to fame so far was getting his picture in the paper when the Cutty sark caught fire !
But things like this do bring home to us all how dangerous the job can be, and how quickly events can become out of hand.
