I thought we were due thunder

Hate this weather I feel cheated

So I'm relying on you mumsnetters to post if you have any rain or thunder so I can track if it's coming my way ( Essex )

Good thread starter :)

Good thread to point out the weather warning that the metoffice has issued for some areas, for isolated thunderstorms and rain.
A muggy 20C at the moment here (Leicester) and I'm hoping for a storm to clear the air.

SE. Night before last it did rain, so imagined that is what caused the steamy air yesterday. No rain last night. Cloudy but seems to be breaking up already atm. At 6 pm last night, even in the open fields there was no breeze , we were sure it woul;d thunder storm in the night - but no!

GloriaSmud · 20/06/2013 06:35

We've had rain already this morning and it's a much more pleasant 12.7C.

My Brother lives on Germany - I think they had the same storm system yesterday?

They were lucky and got the car under cover, but their neighbors all lost their windscreens and have bad dents all over their cars. They also lost their gazebo - SIL say is looks like some one has shot it with a shot gun! two sky lights in the kitchen were smashed (double glazing), and a garden fence knocked over.

My DB has cuts and bruises on his head and shoulders from the hail as he ran into the house after getting the car under cover!

Sh sent me photos of the hail - golf ball sized! Shock

What part of Germany?

digerd · 20/06/2013 07:37

SE. Sky cleared, but a bit hazy and sun been shining a while now.

mankyscotslass · 20/06/2013 08:17

Gutersloh, North Rhine-Westphalia.

manky

Is that the area of the Weinstrasse - the mildest climate in Germany?
I lived in the Schleswig-Holstein, the most northern part- the most rainy days and the shortest summer, if we got much of one . Everything frozen solid till end of April and winter started in October.
But May was usually our summer.

I've been told the winters there for last few years have not been quite so cold, long or so much snow. Actually, just about the time ours got worse Confused

Loved Germany despite the weather.

It's in the Rheinland basin. Smile

We had another night of rain, but no thunderstorm. Cloudy so far and 15 degrees.
