Very sad news, they died doing what they loved and trying to get information that will save others lives in future.

RIP Tim Samaras, 55, his son Paul Samaras, 24, and crew member Carl Young, 45.

It is really sad, they were genuine researchers who provided invaluable information and no doubt saved others lives.

Tornado chasing must be right up there with studying active volcanos for the chances to be wiped out by the thing you are studying. Very sad.

This couple are another example - if you watch a film of an errupting volcano there's a good chance they took it. And that's what killed them.

Yeah, there are different 'categories' of storm chasers, some out for the thrill and some much more experienced and responsible, but it doesn't get away from the fact that tornadoes (and volcanoes) kill.
