Snow warnings - northern England and Scotland!!!

met office have now included parts of Yorkshire in their warnings. Could be tricky for some.

Its a difficult forecast as the further south you are, the more likely tonights precipitation is to be rain, but where that boundary between rain and snow will be is hard to predict, especially when you add high ground into the mix. So be prepared, watch the met office and what will be will be! Where the band is entirely snow there could be around 6 hours worth, giving rise to significant accumulation.

btw, sorry about the excitable exclamation marks in the title, got a bit carried away Blush

Heck! I'm in the north east - will get the snow shovel out...

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 02/12/2012 12:26

good idea pottering!! its hard to tell whether you will get rain after the snow or just snow (or none at all!). Partly depends on how close you are to the coast.

Well written warning by the met office I reckon.

I'll bump this a few times, but I'm off out this afternoon, so any bumping is welcome!

Snow shovels, salt and grit purchased! Wellies dusted off and thermals looked out! I think it's going to be a bad one here again!

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 02/12/2012 12:52

well done Glaikit!

I think you are right tbh.

I'm just too close to the coast....why did I buy a house here.....first to get the haar, last to get the snow......stomps off in the huff......

MerryLindor · 02/12/2012 13:39

Looks like it is going to miss us. Need to get prepared though, so thanks for the warning.

ravenAK · 02/12/2012 13:41

Mind you, I've been dancing since October, & not a flake.

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 02/12/2012 13:42

I used to live by the coast! The haar was unbelievable. A mile down the road at my mums it would be glorious and we couldn't see across the street!

But I miss the sea here!

OYBBK I have a specific journey I will need to make at the end of next week, Bristol to Middlesbrough for a funeral :( Probably Friday or possibly the weekend.

Any predictions as to whether I could take my little car (cheap) or will eek need DHs monster 4x4?

oricella · 02/12/2012 17:51

Wee bit of snow last night, which stayed through the day - very crusty, but just good enough to go sledging down the road.. good fun

NotWankinginaWinterWonderland · 02/12/2012 17:58

Yup right in middle of a yellow warning and NO SNOW Xmas Angry I want snow please, just until tomorrow then it can go away again.

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 02/12/2012 21:35

Marbles, I'm sorry :(
Bit early to tell yet. At the moment the GFS model shows dry Friday but potentially snowy on Saturday. Keep prompting me about it.
Notwanking, give it a chance, the night is young!

Bump for those off to bed soon.

It's creeping closer according to my FB pals West of here.........

Selks · 02/12/2012 23:09

I'm expecting to wake up to whiteness everywhere in the morning. The main concern for me though is that the snow will be falling on black ice - there is already ice on the roads and it will be treacherous with snow in top.
Take care when driving tomorrow folks, esp early tomorrow.

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf · 02/12/2012 23:19

ITS SNOWING HERE! PROPER BIG FLAKES! Just outside Edinburgh! Hee hee!

MrsMushroom · 02/12/2012 23:22

Am dissapointed in Cheshire. Sad We're off to Oz and will MISS IT ALL!!! Might there be snow in january when we come back?

Labradorlover · 02/12/2012 23:24

Glaikit Envy....although the sky looks snowy....

sausagesandwich34 · 02/12/2012 23:27

I'm in Leeds, in the yellow bit on the map but if you look at the local weather there is no mention of the white stuff

not sure if that's good or not Hmm

Piffpaffpoff · 02/12/2012 23:30
