from the metoffice.

Apologies to all these areas, especially NW England and Yorkshire as it's been bad there over the last 24 hours ~ last thing they need is more rain.

Thank you Gloria.
Although the IOW isnt in the warnings I'm concerned about the extra rain they will get tonight.

We had really heavy rain overnight here.

We had to shut the bedroom window as it was so noisy! It's stopped raining now, but there are large puddles all over the lawn.

We had heavy rain yesterday morning too - I was at football training outdoors with DS2. In the middle of the heaviest rain (when it felt like a hose being turned on over us), they made for the dubious shelter of a stand of trees. After a few minutes they decided that it was impossible to get any wetter, so returned to the field. Both DS and I were soaked to our underwear, despite waterproofs, and my walking boots are going to take ages to dry. Shock

Goodness knows what it was like at the camp site for DS1!

crikey Manky, that sounds really unpleasant!

mankyscotslass · 24/06/2012 10:45

I think it could have been worse - I know someone from the Hebden Bridge area, and that was hit hard on Friday.

We are lucky here, and not in a flood risk area, I feel so sorry for those that are!

I think we are due some dry weather I think, til Wednesday at least, but is it true that the weather from next week will go downhill from then on?

Lilyloo · 24/06/2012 10:49

We have had so much rain, Friday we had flooding, little reprieve yesterday to clean up but it raining again today.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 24/06/2012 14:20

Manky, it does look that way sadly.

ds's school seem to have installed the new "pond" on the school field as a permanent feature.

dd's school on the other hand seem to be installing a water slide Hmm

Netweather says the temperature in London on Thursday will be 33 degrees C! (Or rather -'feel like' 33 degrees C, whatever that means.)

Can this be? Sounds like it won't last...

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 24/06/2012 22:20

!
What is the actual temp it's saying? Met office are going for 26c. I'm rather taken aback, I've been so busy looking at the rain scenarios I hadn't notice the step change in temp!! Blush wonder when that happened!

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 24/06/2012 22:24

Oh I see, Tis coming up off the continent. Sadly it's just a blip.

MooncupGoddess · 24/06/2012 22:28

Thanks OYBBK, I feared as much! (The netweather 'feels like' feature is quite odd - I suppose it takes into account the wind etc, but I'm not sure how it could feel seven degrees hotter than it actually is!)
