I have a confession: this terrible weather is all my fault. You see, ...

A few months ago, I considered buying DS2 a sand and water play table for the garden

So it's ALL my fault.

Sorry - it's our fault.

We had solar panels fitted in March, and since then have not seen the sun once.

culturemulcher · 18/06/2012 20:48

Nope. Everyone relax. You're all wrong. Incontestably my fault.

The rains started the day the builders took the roof off our house.

My fault.

BellaBearisWideAwake · 18/06/2012 20:48

Do you think there's a cumulative effect? Maybe if EVERYONE bought waterproof trousers tomorrow?

OP posts:
Greedygirl · 18/06/2012 21:55

I won't be able to buy waterproofs tomorrow but I'll do my bit by wearing a jumper and some thick tights...and I will put my brolly in my bag and get my DS all wrapped up and forget to take his sun-hat to nursery then it is duty bound to be boiling hot by lunch time!

PoppyWearer · 18/06/2012 22:11

Greedygirl I can't manage a proper weekend away but have two day trips planned so maybe if I sneak back into the house when the weather's not looking, I just might be able to pull something out of the bag for you?

Greedygirl · 20/06/2012 21:51

Counting on you Poppywearer!

AdventuresWithVoles · 21/06/2012 18:17

It's my fault Blush, I spent £60 last week on expensive no chemicals sun screens.

D0oinMeCleanin · 21/06/2012 18:21

It's actually my fault. We always head off to sunnier climes for our holidays and always end up missing the only two weeks of british summer, so we decided to go camping at home this year.

Of course as soon as it was booked and organised this happened Sad

We have a mahoosive holiday planned for somewhere vair hot next summer, so you should get some sun next year.

CiderwithBuda · 21/06/2012 18:39

Well I blame DH. He put our new BBQ together.

RabidAnchovy · 21/06/2012 18:55

OK today was my fault, I cut my garden yesterday

GwendolineMaryLacey · 21/06/2012 19:03

Sorry, it's my fault. I have ice blocks in the freezer and a fridge full of scotch eggs/pork pies/pâté and nice bread. I also bought a new picnic rug. I'm so so sorry.

BellaBearisWideAwake · 21/06/2012 19:48

There are many selfless and honest people on MN.

hugglymugly · 21/06/2012 20:17

Well, after my supreme effort on Monday, I gave in yesterday and mowed the lawn (why don't the manufacturers of sprays and fabric softeners and plug-in thingies have a freshly-mown grass option, I'm sure that would sell like hot cakes ... mmm... hot cakes).

I also wielded the heavy trimmers to the front hedge. That really hurt, and for some while my fingers couldn't do what I wanted my fingers to do. But I now have a better view from my window.

So, my apologies. I can now spy more effectively on my neighbours' activities, but I've obviously invoked the wrath of the weather controllers.

IHeartKingThistle · 21/06/2012 20:22

Well you can take the blame for the rest of it but tomorrow is on my head. Tomorrow is my birthday. It rains Every. Single. Year.

Grumpla · 21/06/2012 20:26

There was me thinking it was my fault for having bought a gorgeous pair of rope-soled pale suede wedge sandals.

But I think it probably was you, culturemulcher. I mean, who takes the roof off their house in the SUMMER?!?!

plus3 · 21/06/2012 20:29

It's kind of you all, but the fault lies at our door.

We installed a water butt because of the drought.....(hangs head in shame)

oreocrumbs · 21/06/2012 20:47

Aha! I think I may just have realised a way to reverse our damage. Last winter I bought DD a pair of boots in a bigger size for next winter. Of course she immediatly grew 2 sizes overnight so it looked like they would be too small by the next winter.

BUT, they fit her now and so she is going to wear them in the middle of summer, to keep her feet dry Hmm.

That should get the sun back out! Although it probably won't work untill at least next week because I'm going to a concert on Sunday.

GloriaSmud · 21/06/2012 20:55

I have soooo infuriated the weather Gods. Not only did I get my carpets and lounge rug washed, (and left the rug out over DDs swing to dry, and overnight too), but I also yesterday washed the car and cut the grass.

Happy Birthday for tomorrow King Thistle. Look on the bright side, yesterday was officially the start of summer and today's the longest day of the year. Things can only get wetter better from now on. And if it doesn't, soon be Christmas!

PoppyWearer · 21/06/2012 21:02

Gloria your nn is fabulous - and perfect for this thread!

BellaBearisWideAwake · 21/06/2012 21:18

Well, I've just made plans for a day outdoors on Saturday. So I hold my hand up for that one, sorry everyone

OP posts:
RabidAnchovy · 21/06/2012 21:34

Please People we need to stop the rain as on Saturday I have to help my pregnant sister move house

oreocrumbs · 21/06/2012 21:55

I'll do my bit Rabid, I'm at work on Saturday so that should encourage the sun! Always lovely to go to work in the heat, especially when I work in an oven (not literally) Grin

Mirage · 22/06/2012 20:15

I did my bit and replaced my split and leaky wellies, hoping that my purchase would trigger a drought, but no,the weather gods are not appeased.

We are taking the dds and their ponies to their very first horse show this weekend and they have been looking forward to it for a year-it isn't looking good.Sad

DialsMavis · 02/07/2012 23:10

I can take full responsibility for any inclement weather from Fri onwards. I am going camping in mid Wales in the worlds smallest tent at a festival I could Ill afford the ticket to in the first place. Apparently it was 6 degrees there on site last night.... I also saw the thread about the weather warning in the south west for Thurs, so can guess with some certainty that it will arrive where I am by Fri Wink
