looks like the particular concern is on cornwall, which due to its topology can (as those who live near the coasts know) rapid flash floods.

As mentioned on the warnings thread for today, I'm still concerned about the weekends weather. A slow moving deep low pressure moves in from the SW. Friday in particular looks concerning and I fully expect the met office to put out early warnings for it soon.

More rain.

The garden is like a jungle!

Thanks for the heads-up, OYBBK

You are welcome.

I am considering growing rice.

do you have a linky to fridays low?

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 13/06/2012 06:50

morning all, warnings still remain in force for today.
Friday's low pressure seems to have moved north a little in the gfs model - bringing the heaviest rain through the central swathe of the UK (Wales, Midlands etc.)

blueeyedsusan - I use wetterzentrale but I'll see if I can find you an easier link!

Rain for the Midlands on Friday?
I'd grow rice but don't think it would like my clay soil! Roses do well though.

GloriaSmud · 13/06/2012 12:08

First weather warnings for Friday and Saturday have been issued now.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 13/06/2012 12:52

I need to have a good look to see if I can work out the reasoning behind the position of those warnings!

Oh no - we're going on holiday to Newquay on Monday for 5 days and then St Ives for another week. Its going to be awful isn't it, my little girl was so looking forward to paddling in the sea, think I'd better take a boat ! Is there any sign at all of the weather improving in Cornwall over the next two weeks? (grasping at straws)

PurplePidjin · 13/06/2012 14:13

Thanks, OYBBK, i think I'm caught between the worst spots (New Forest) but will batten down hatches just in case...

Jemjelly, you might be better off heading a bit further East. It's not wonderful here in East Dorset but you'd be able to paddle as long as you were well prepared to warm up afterwards :)

jemjelly · 13/06/2012 14:33

Sadly this holiday has been booked since December, we're staying at Haven sites in static caravans unless they've floated away of course. I'll have to just take weather proof clothing and hope for the best.

Stupid weather, I'm definatly going abroad for my hols next year, already looking at bookings to try and cheer myself up.
