Not able to get out of the apartment with baby

We landed in London in mid march, and I was very happy with the sun and the walks. Suddenly all this changes. House bound almost the entire week, even if it a little bit cloudy I am afraid to step out for the fear of catching a cold. Also afraid baby 9 months old will fall sick.

Is it normal for people to step out in this weather? What are the precautions you will take? Also any special clothing for the baby? Am from the tropics, been there all my life. This is the first time am I a country with 4 seasons.

Help!

You do not catch a cold from being cold. Get some warm and water proof clothes and a rain cover for the baby's buggy and go out anyway. There are many places to go where your final destination can be indoors if necessary.

Don't stay in, you'll go mad.

Also, slightly older children love rain and puddles. Buy wellies as soon as your baby is walking.

you just have to get on with it! if baby is in pushchair they can be cosy and warm and dry, once crawling, toddling you can get all in one suits that are waterproof for them and a pair of wellies, they love the rain and getting wet wont make them poorly :)

Alternatively, get a sling for baby, a really big waterproof jacket to cover you both, an umbrella to keep the rain off - you will both be dry and keep each other warm! Walking in the rain can be lovely - listening to it beating down on the umbrella

Get warm clothes. You may want more than the locals if you're used to tropical weather. The baby will be fine in vest, another layer and in a nice snug pushchair.

Museums during the week are good dry places with some space to crawl, and some cafes. If you get wet, treat yourself in said cafe.
