Oh great. Here we go again. The wind is picking up already here and horizontal rain/sleet. Vile. (Central Scotland)

Labradorlover · 28/12/2011 10:38

Don't worry OYBBR, we had no warning from the Met office for Xmas day and had gusts of 60mph.

Ineedacleaneriamalazyslattern · 28/12/2011 10:56

Getting windy in Aberdeen bins been blowing over all morning except ours cause dh never bothered to put it out even though it is the only job he is specifically asked to do forgot and left me a note somewhere that I never seen it until after the bin men had been.

Labradorlover · 28/12/2011 11:04

Ah got the rain now too as well as the wind. Another bracing dog walk coming up.........

michglas · 28/12/2011 11:06

We live at the top of a big hill in Glasgow and I have had to go and shut our storm doors. You can still hear the wind blowing in through the front door, it sounds like the front door is going to blow open even though it's locked.

albertswearingen · 28/12/2011 11:12

It's awful here and another of our neighbour's elderly leylandii have come crashing into our garden this morning. It's the third one this year. To be fair to her she has enquired to getting them cut down but is balking at the expense. At this rate the other 4 will go soon but worryingly they will fall onto our roof.

GentleOtter · 28/12/2011 11:17

Horrid here - fast gusts of wind, horizontal rain and problems with flooding on some of the roads as well as large chunks of trees down.

Stay in, if possible. I would not be surprised if the power goes.

Is it to last all day and night in Scotland? We are west coast.

squaresausage · 28/12/2011 13:02

This must be hurricane bawbags brother. My windows are rattling!

rootietootie · 28/12/2011 13:03

Shall be on the lookout for rolling trampolines :0

LadyBeagleEyes · 28/12/2011 16:56

Scary stuff here too, it was all last night and it's picked up again over the last few hours.
I'm in the NW of Scotland.

GentleOtter · 28/12/2011 17:30

Am back in and would advise anyone not to go out or drive in it. Very scary.
My car was blown all over the road, monster flooded puddles hidden potholes and the electric wires were billowing.

Is this Hurricane Scrote?

OhYouBadBadReindeer · 28/12/2011 18:18

Sounds rather nasty (feel like I've been neglecting you all over the festive season)
We had a nice little cold front go through this afternoon - nothing like the main storm at all but I rather regretted not advising dd that she would need her coat (which meant that we 'sheltered' in the lee of a building whilst being rather drowned and blown about whilst dh ran to get the car, only he got caught in a one way system so his attempted rescue was a bit of a failure)

DD always advised to take her coat and I only own waterproof ones Grin
