West of Scotland - thought the house was going to blow away last night!

Did anyone else get woken up by the horrendous wind and rain last night? It's calmed down a bit now, but is still pretty gusty. And the rain! This time last year, the big freeze had started. I think I would prefer snow and cold to today's weather.

We are just to the west of Edinburgh but live in a natural wind tunnel anyway. It was wild last night!!

Please don't wish for snow though! I'm getting a new kitchen fitted next week and they won't reach my house if there is snow! :o

Ha - it actually is snowing (well, sleeting) now! But I hope the proper stuff stays off until your kitchen is fitted.

Yes it was very windy here, then had snow this morning, now it's just sleeting.

Wild night here too, friend has his bedroom in their loft conversion and was seriously worried he'd be roofless by the end of the night. Heard it had been snowing in various places overnight too, (Kilmacolm) and it was definitely sleeting when I was out at lunchtime there!

Yes, thanks, but I wasn't expecting it so far south! Do you think we will get proper snow again this year?

We're right on the coast and the wind was something else. Had sleet, hail and thunder this morning too.

neither was I AP!!! (nor I think the met office)

Still no clear ideas on snow through the winter. I think that in the short term a good part of the uk will remain snowless. After that????? rubbish forecasting sorry!
