I saw this on facebook and shared it. snow story

VivaLeBeaver · 02/11/2011 21:47

Aout five weeks ago I read in the news that we'd have deep snow with a fortnight and it's being quite tropical since then.

Ponders · 02/11/2011 21:49

I saw it in the Daily Mail today so ignored it Grin

it was from one of those commercial weather forecasting companies - the Met Office has stopped issuing long-range forecasts, because they got so much flak when it was wrong, but the DM loves SHOCK! HORROR! forecasts so gets 'em where it can

Ponders · 02/11/2011 21:50

oh that Express link is from the same lot

"Postitive Weather Solutions"

they provide positive solutions how?

GloriaSmud · 03/11/2011 06:49

I think it's PWS that had some credibility on one message board (metmonkey) I went on because they got last winters forecast about right.
But for what it's worth, here's their forecast for this winter along with their extra comment here.

JaneBirkin · 03/11/2011 06:52

Ponders, perhaps they advise staying indoors with a blanket. Grin

and a hot chocolate.

That would be an entirely positive solution.

GloriaSmud · 03/11/2011 06:54

I think that would be MN's Weather Solution, Jane. I'd be happy to go with it!

OhYouBadBadkitten · 03/11/2011 07:01

I've not seen much sign of snow in the models yet I'm afraid.

Ponders · 03/11/2011 09:14

GOOD!!!

Thanks, kitten Smile

Jane, I like your idea very much

I love snow. However, not one of the long range forecasters (Accuweather etc) appears to be predicting any snow. In fact, on the east coast of the UK, the temperatures don't look to be dropping much at all in the next couple of weeks, the worst I've seen is 11, it's only 13 today.

GloriaSmud · 03/11/2011 09:56

Dawndonna ~ Netweather think the same; there's nothing of a snowy nature showing in the next few weeks (but for those who like a bit of fun, their thoughts on Christmas are here!)

Trills · 03/11/2011 10:01

Depends what you mean by "true".

It can't possibly be true that we are getting snow in 2 weeks' time because no-one knows for sure.

It also depends on who you mean by "we".

Dawndonna · 03/11/2011 10:53

Nooooo, only a 15% chance, Gloria, I'm off for a sulk, I like being snowed in! (Delightfully rural here).

GloriaSmud · 03/11/2011 11:06

We've only got a 20%! I loved last Christmas because for us (in the Midlands), the snow arrived the evening the children started their Christmas hols and then because it was so cold, it didn't melt and lasted until after Christmas. I'd like to 'order' another Christmas like that!
