Just a bit of a heads up really. Potential for some thunderstorms tomorrow across central England, maybe some pretty decent ones.

warnings for heavy rain too.

As always, reports welcome.

Met office seem to think the region for thunderstorms will be NI, the SW and Wales. Estofex warnings cover a much larger area (and warn of severe gusts, large hail and the potential for tornadoes) I think that central southern England should also be aware of the potential and perhaps the west Midlands too.

How fast is all this expected to move?

What's on the cards for Bonfire Night?

OhYouBadBadkitten · 03/11/2011 15:54

Hows it going out there? Particularly in the west?

We had extremely heavy rain here last night. West Midlands. Rained a bit earlier but wasn't more than a heavy but brief shower.

cool - will be interested in how it is this evening in your region :)

Last night was VERY heavy. DP went outside for a smoke and was soaked in about half a second. He came and woke me up Hmm because he loves rainstorms and he said he hadn't seen one so heavy in years.

For me the rain was making such noises that I swear I heard footsteps in the room that I was in, even though nobody was there.

Heavy rain from just after 4.30pm over by Stansted airport and has not let up all night . Small road outside house is flooded

We had a thunderstorm yesterday PM (SElondon/Kent borders) and very heavy rain right now with more thunder expected later. It feels like we get a fair share of storms a year round here - is it because we're surrounded by "hills" (as in parts of London which are higher)?

pallymama · 04/11/2011 06:23

We had thunder and lightning in Southampton at around 4 this morning. It woke me up early, so now I have time to MN before work! Grin

Morning all. very impressed with the over night reports!

we had one around midnight and then another sometime in the night. Very dramatic sounding thunder!

Heavy rain warnings out here for southern central england and parts of the sw. We've had 28mm of rain since midnight. So can verify its heavy! More storms quite likely.

Iggly, i'm not sure - part of it is your area seems to pick up a lot of storms drifting over from france. I suspect the topography has something to do with it too.

Thanks OYBBK!

We've now got nice blue skies with clouds creeping through so expecting rain later.

crappiest news report ever - funnel clouds which touch the ground are tornadoes. Thats the bloody definition! but it looks like there may have been a weak tornado. Anyone live in that area? (near Redditch)
