When are they predicting it for? Obviously it will hit up North fairly soon, but what about lower down, say East Anglia?

Is it really true that this winter is going to be like the 'Big One' in 2008 (?) and the worst in years?

I'm going to pretend that I haven't seen this post!

bubbles4 · 07/10/2011 22:30

i heard a report that the rumours of October snow would only happen in the Highlands.

FlyingPirates · 07/10/2011 22:37

Ooooh yes....please post if you know something. I'm pg and due date is 7th Jan - keep having horrid little daydreams involving my incredibly squeamish DH having to deliver our little one at home or on the A58....

I've found some predictions here, another one here (but only 'til the end of November) and interesting thoughts here.

FlyingPirates · 08/10/2011 11:10

Oooh! That exacta one IS interesting!

seasonal forecasts are notoriously dodgy Grin Nothing showing in the models that I can see at the moment.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/10/2011 09:18

Having said all that, the first hints of some properly cold weather are showing on the 24th October 9which has just come into range in the models i can see) with temps very close to freezing and perhaps some precipitation. First hill snow for northern Britain????? (pure speculation at the moment) (I know that there has been a dusting on the top ofsome Scottish mountains already but not many people live on the top of the mountains!)
