Temperatures hit 27.8C that day in 1895. Forecasters think that record might be broken today.
Interesting that they don't class this as an Indian Summer though as it's too early!

They are pedantically correct about the Indian summer (but who cares )

I'm looking forward to the weekend to see if we break all time october records.

28C now for us. Whilst i dont mind it, people do look very hot and bothered in general.

I think it's 28 or 29C here ~ the car's temp guage seems to be all over the place and started off at 32C just as I set off after picking up DDs!

DD1's had netball outside this afternoon and when I picked her up just now, she'd drunk both her drinks and then started on her sister's drinks from their lunchboxes! And I've just noticed that my pansies that I planted last week are actually wilting! I'm so going to have to get the hosepipe or watering can on them this evening!

Tis often very nice on 29th September (anniversary of my birth you know). As my dmum said to me earlier, as she does every year when she phones to say Happy Birthday, twas also a glorious day the very day I was born. Am thrilled to have got two loads of washing dry today, but was slightly worried about the guinea pigs out on the grass earlier and I had to cover them with something for shade.
