We're the opposite side of Manchester. Family live up there though so I'll ask them when I go over tomorrow.

Any idea if this will all clear up by Sunday afternoon? I'm going to an outdoor performance of Pirates of Penzance in Ormskirk. Will I need suncream or waterproofs? And will DD be safe holding her beloved umbrella?

it does look better by sunday, still sunshine and showers but not to the same extent.

Phew, that's a relief.... that's what I'd seen on websites but I never entirely trust them.... mainly because the nearest weather station to us is a few miles away and several hundred feet below us on the Cheshire plains.

Interesting to note that linden road in Bognor (site of the bulk of yesterdays damage) was hit by a tornado 11 years ago causing significant damage and injuring 5 people!. telegraph are calling it 'tornado alley'!

another fire caused by lightning

the last couple of years has seen a real dearth of lightning incidents, this year seems very different so far!

Think yesterday's cloud was scud joining up to above cloud..... pretty thick bits, not wispy ( Ive been googling Smile. )
Less thunder today. The odd rumble and flash, and more intense downpours, so I think bits of Edinbrugh at the bottom of hills will get some more flooding.

OhYouBadBadCrookshanks · 09/07/2011 18:33

it does sound rather like scud - could you see them moving at all?

this low pressure is certainly causing a lot of activity!
