Storms in the US

I caught this yesterday on BBC news.
at the number of tornadoes and the report of hailstones the size of grapefruit.

I know that tjhere has been a marked increase in the number of tornadoes this year already!

My cousin lives in NC, USA, and a town very close to them was hit quite badly.
