Will it be the first thunder of the year or some? Potential is there for SW. back later to look at more detail.

Glad I got the washing in when I did as we have very heavy rain now, but the sky is brighter so maybe we won't get the thunder!

SW line looks pretty strong, but there doesnt seem to be any electrification at present. The line further north is showing some strikes in parts of south wales and the west midlands :)

It's just got quite dark here.

If it does thunder DH will have an interesting time of it with DS2. He is at his first football match and does not like thunder. (ds that is, DH is like me and loves it!)

Dg was saying it was very dark over dartmoor this am, but it seems to be coming to nothing. The cloud cover near us is braking up slightly so we can see cumulonimbus (sp?!) forming. It's pretty windy though (east Dorset)

Just heard thunder in the midlands. Sky is very dark. Looks like you might be better than storm forecasting than you think. Coincidentally, my 4 year old told there'd be thunder today. Shock

ooo - a new budding weather forecaster Grin How do the clouds look apart from dark? Is it generally a grumpy sky or is there structure t the clouds?

Well, it has got a little lighter but the whole sky was very dark. To my uneducated eye there was a big, massive black cloud then the distant roll of thunder. DH and I both think we saw a flash of lightening and now it is raining.

Just had a thundery shower here and it's quite chilly out now. Sky is very dark still to the North and West.

I'm liking OYBBK's 'grumpy' looking sky description; think they should use it during weather forecasts!

still glorious here in south wales although I was in our nearest town this morning and got a deluge of rain, and literally drove through it and out of it on the way home!
You know, when 1 side of the road is wet and the other is dry! Twas quite freaky!
