Is winter going to fight back this week?

One of the models shows winter returning next weekend, with widespread very cold temperatures and I'm afraid to say - snow for some (not just Scotland)

Of course next weekend is a long way off weather wise but the potential is there.
In the mean time quite a bit of sunshine on and off through this week but sharp frosts right down through to the south where any cloud lifts.

But in general it seems that the cold/snowy conditions will be confined to 'up north'.

OYB - I can report that up north it's white, windy, sunny with another snow shower looking to come in soon

Only a dusting here at sea level, but judging by the traffic a fair bit more snow just up the road

This must feel like a very very long winter to you!
