They are late 70s and are keen to drive from Yorkshire to Surrey next Wednesday.

How do I try to put them off with regard to the weather without it seeming like I don't want them to come (which might actually be the truth...Wink

Tell them to look at the red area on the met office site...

They don't do internet. They have no snow in Y.shire so think it'll be fine...

It might be ok by Wednesday.

muddleduck · 18/12/2010 14:19

Don't overthink this. Wait until the day itself and then look at met office info.

I have tasted the idea of them not being here for Xmas (for the first time in years) and got all excited about it. Now I desperately don't want them to come!!

Wait until tuesday night or wednesday morning as suggested - impossible to get a clear picture of where the snow will be then.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 17:37

I thought that might the case minko Grin

GypsyMoth · 18/12/2010 17:44

tell them the weather forecast for when they are due to go back is uncertain

KangarooCaught · 18/12/2010 17:46

Tell them to keep an eye on the weather forecast, you'd hate for them to be stranded on a motorway Christmas Day.

chrimblycompo · 18/12/2010 17:46

Make sure next year you don't invite them

minko · 18/12/2010 21:53

I don't invite them, they just come... it's what is expected now... Xmas is depressing - they just sit and wait to be waited on for days on end, watching crap on the TV 24/7 and generally take over the house.

Are they very old?

arentfanny · 18/12/2010 22:49

Go away next year?

KangarooCaught · 18/12/2010 22:55

Am having pangs over the ILs. We're seeing them tomorrow/Monday and then probably NY but not Christmas Day, as the gritted teeth, tension headache & sheer exhaustion aren't worth it. Sneakily I made Christmas arrangements whilst PIL was not talking to dh for over a month (took dh a month to notice Grin) but now I feel a bit guilty - dh gives it no thought at all! Am wondering how much emotional blackmail PIL is going to lay on tomorrow.

arentfanny · 18/12/2010 22:56

I last saw my IL's 18 months ago and have no pangs whatsoever. They treat my DH appalingly.
