I feel I must be living in a giant eco bubble as there seems to be snow all around me, judging by everyone's reports here, and yet not a sign of it where I am. It was the same a few weeks back.

Jofeb, thanks. Dh works in Cwmbran - I'm not sure whether that is near you or not - but yes he has to travel on the M4 to get home (we are just the other side of the old Severn Bridge).

Dumbledore, it seems that Cwmbran has had snow, but not too much (dh works in Pontypool which is about five miles north of Cwmbran). M4 is moving (though slowly, more snow is expected later today). Hopefully the bridge will stay open :-)

I've just checked the Severn Bridge webcams and the motorway looks clear all the way along, thankfully. Grin

That should say "all the way along the M4 in Wales" not just all the way along the bridge.

Lots of snow in Mid Devon, in fact they've shut work now (not that I work afternoons, boo!) Apparently too many people couldn't travel on the link road between our two sites.

I'm also in West Sussex. No snow here (near the coast) but absolutely freezing and really, really icy. I went for a run inland this morning on higher ground and the ice was lethal.

We are off to Cambridge after school so hoping for no snow.

sarahfreck · 17/12/2010 15:15

No snow here in Greater Manchester!. It has been a a cold but bright day. Clouding over now though!

winterpetunia · 17/12/2010 16:44

Blimey, parts of Northern Ireland are now covered by a Take Action weather warning. Don't see those too often!

mole1 · 17/12/2010 16:48

Swindon - very cold, no snow, just icy.

wineonafridaynight · 17/12/2010 18:15

I also wonder what action you are meant to take if it says 'Take Action'. Any one know? Surely 'do nothing' would be better - i.e. stay at home! Never actually seen one before that one for NI.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 17/12/2010 18:59

It means - take a door off its hinges and prop it against a wall, cover it with blankets and pillows then crawl inside with enough food water and somewhere to wee to last your for 6 weeks.

oh wait - thats a nuclear war.

Met office take action means:
"Take action
Remain extra vigilant and ensure you access the latest weather forecast. Follow orders and any advice given by authorities under all circumstances and be prepared for extraordinary measures."

which isnt very helpful really.

wineonafridaynight · 17/12/2010 19:50

Oh thank you! I've always wondered that! :)
