We had a tremendous two hour downpour in the middle of the night.

But we have not had the promised gales yet.

How is it in your part of the country? (mon 23rd)

Think they got the forecast about right overnight (in Leicester); started raining around 1am then really threw it down from 4am, for an hour or two. It was a bit windy but not too bad.
This morning, it's been overcast, there's been occasional glimpses of the sun and dark clouds are gathering now, so we're probably in for rain soon.

we have had heavy rain overnight and a few heavy showers this morning in Norwich - but no wind yet.

In the Midlands here and I've finally twigged whats happening....if I put a load of washing on, as soon as the cycle starts, so does the rain.

Its tipping it down now after what looked a promising morning a couple of hours ago.

Just started with torrential rain here in North Holland! :D I love it, I hope it starts thundering!

they say the Gales are still coming to get us . I hope it is not in the middle of the night. I have a big gable end; and I have to go down stairs to sleep when its noisy. This apart we have had a dry summer. cheers
