Thinking of going on a last minute big holiday. But what, weather experts, will the weather be in London for the school holidays?

Thanks

ok. huge proviso that long term forecasts even by professionals are notoriously crap - computer models just arent accurate that far out.

Looking at the models for the next 2 weeks (which is as far as I can see, being a member of the public) I think it is looking quite 'typical English summer'. With warm days interspersed with showery days. right at the end of that 2 weeks (end of July) I think that it looks like an improving situation with high pressure beginning to dominate and lows heading north.

MarshaBrady · 15/07/2010 10:34

yep I can imagine that will be the case. Stroppy inconsistent weather!

Too hard to tell re August isn't it.

Still, the heat wave was nice.

It was lovely
It is too hard re august. Depends whether that high pressure shown in the models builds or not.

So next week doesn't look too bad? We need some good camping weather for the Pickering area of Yorkshire and really would rather not have thunderstorms (had enough of those when we went camping last year in Norkfolk!)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/07/2010 21:22

I think Petunia it will be quite unsettled, at least to start with, but not too bad. (hopefully!)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/07/2010 12:37

Telegraph says that there will be a heat wave this week with temps of 34C on tuesday.

Met office website says temps in London of 28C on monday then cooling down a bit until the weekend.

Looking at things, I suspect that the telegraph are somewhat rather wrong. They appear to have based it on one model output and have erroneously tried to connect the met office with the prediction. It looks nice on Monday for many then cooler and unsettled again.

moral of the story: dont always believe what you read in the papers

MarshaBrady · 17/07/2010 15:01

Ooh thanks OYBBK. Looks good!

Heatwave where? London?

I have sun and showers until Tuesday and the highest temp being 17.

That's what it's said for the last two weeks and it means sun for about ten minutes, cold, windy and pissing it down for the rest of the time.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/07/2010 15:45

mugggle - thats what I'm saying - a heatwave is not predicted for this week.

muggglewump · 17/07/2010 15:50

Oh right, I didn't read that properly

I'm just sick of this shite weather.

I bet the papers were talking about London.

It's cold here, cold and wet and windy.

MarshaBrady · 17/07/2010 18:33

It is very nice here. I did focus on your first line BadKitten. I see now it's not a heatwave

Where are you muggle?
