Is it ok to give 24 week old DD fromage frais? I know the little pots say from 4 months and DD had some and really enjoyed it but then i read something saying it should be avoided until after 8 months or they could develop an allergy to dairy??

Anyone else give it before 8 months and all ok?

DS was weaned at 21 weeks but didn't get dairy or gluten till he turned 6 months. DH has allergies and didn't want to risk it before then.

DS has eaten everything we've ever given him and so far so good - no issues.

Very unlikely to do any actual harm but they are full of sugar and she'd be better off with plain greek yoghurt tbh.

neverenoughMEtime · 19/06/2010 21:50

Ah thanks for that. Yes they are full of sugar arn't they...what about the muller stars ones are they better? Was thinking of greek yogurt but no-one else realy likes it and DD wouldn't be eating that much so it would be wasted..unless they do smal pots? I haven't seen any!

Anyway DD1 likes the muller stars are they a little better for DD2 or not?

Thanks for your help!

Best ones are Yeo Valley or Rachels I think. Still sweetened but not as bad. In moderation OK IMHO.

They are bigger pots but will keep once opened.

Also, greek yogurt comes in smaller (not baby sized) pots and you could add a little fruit puree to sweeten if your DD won't take it. But as I said DS likes everything, even stuff I hate, which DH is so grateful for as he thinks I'm high maintenance fussy

The best baby yoghurts I've found (without any added sugar/anything nasty at all) are the Baby Plum range, ds loves them!

Thanks! Will get some yeo valley/plum ones and try those! Im hoping my DD will eat anything too doughnutty, DD and i are fussy too

yeo valley do plain yoghurt ones, gave DS1 them for ages with fruit dipped in, no need to give flavoured sugary yoghurt just yet.

Petits filous and the like are fine - but if you give them every day they can give babies a sweet tooth. I tend to buy them some weeks, but other weeks I give fruit pots or yeo valley with puree mixed in.
