My 6-mth old can't stand the dried powdered stuff that you mix with milk as breakfasts (been using a banana breakfast and an Apricot & Strawberry breakfast - Heinz Organics).

I don't know what other kinds of cereal he can have.... can anyone help me here ?

I think I introduced Weetabix at 6 months. But in my day (4 years ago!) we introduced solids at 4 months. I'm a bit wary of offering advice tbh.

at 6 months they can have wheat and oats. try weetabix or porridge. My son loved/loves both of those. Shredded wheat is also low sugar too. It depends how he is with lumps.

When do they introduce solids now? Mine was four years ago too. I also used to give dd weetabix.

jane313 · 11/08/2005 19:31

or you could go down the toast route when he starts finger food.

lucy5 lots of these threads become quite heated. The gov advice is 6 months but it is not filtering down to hvs and lots of people want to/have start earlier. Theres are a zillions threads about it

Mashed banana in milk,
Porridge with crushed strawberries/banana,
Weetabix with milk,
fromage frais (not sure if baby at 6 months can have this though)
HTH

oh, that completely passed me by. Why 6 months? I hope i'm not opening a can of worms.

purpleturtle · 11/08/2005 19:36

Now it's turned out that Weetabix is still okay for 6 month olds I've remembered that both mine ate Weetabix mixed with mashed banana in vast quantities. Can have a dubious effect on nappies though, beware!

Since my DS was 6 months old he's had only weetabix and ready brek with different fruit purres mixed in to sweeten/flavour it.

Ruthiebaby · 11/08/2005 22:05

Do you put cows milk on the weetabix and ready brek ?

Yes, I think cow's milk is allowed on cereals and in cooking from 6 months.
