tripp trapp - harness?

Do I need to buy the very expensive 'baby set' if I get a tripp trapp for my 9 month old? We're trying to keep the cost down (DH insists on this chair and this one only) and have been watching some chairs on ebay. However, Granny has just given us half the price of a new one, so we'll get one. I have a 5 point harness/ reins set that says it attaches to most high chairs. Any chance it will work with the tripp trapp?

It'll probably work with thr tripp trap, stokke do a harness of their own but that attaches to plastic fittings that come with it. I didn't put DD in a harness until about 16 months or so.

TBH the babyset is great, could you not get one from ebay?

Here, looks like you should be able to get one for about half of the new price.

I have two tripp trapps which are about 18 years old and they are in a fantastic state. Nothing what so ever wrong with them. There isn't really anything that can go wrong with them. Why not just get the whole thing secondhand?

You're right I think. But we were given the money on condition we bought a new one, or so it appeared to me as it was handed over... It's a shame, MIL knows we're trying to spend carefully (I know, it doesn't seem like a sensible purchase in these circumstances) so I wish she could have given us the money for something else. I am more grateful than I sound, honestly! Thanks for ebay link. Maybe she wouldn't realise...?

Just go second hand. If she didn't explicitly say it was for a brand new one than how could you possibly know that was what she intended?

It was for a tripp trapp right? She probably wouldn't notice if you said it was new when it wasn't, but TBH I wouldn't want to actively lie about it. I'd rather manipulate the situation let her draw her own conclusions and plead confusion if she does notice it's second hand and complains.

I have the baby set for the tripp trap and the harness. You will prob find a regular harness is fine but TBH I used the harness a handful of times with child one and never with child 2. Perhaps my kids are a bit chunky and slot in well!

I have 2 and they do look nice but my mum has that 12 quid one from IKEA which is brill and I wish I had them.
