Throwing up undigested food?

DD 11m has 8 teeth and eats pretty fast. She's happy feeding herself lots of soft lumps of food so have been encouraging this, but when she was sick (from a cough) last night, say 6 hours after eating, it was almost all complete chunks of food: broccoli, chicken and cheese.

What do you think, should I mush it up more even though she prefers to feed herself?

This often happens still with my dcs (8 and 5) and I always why it more often than not, almost whole pieces of penne pasta! Pasta always seemed to make them be sick, especially when they had bad coughs.

Perhaps give her more smaller size meals rather than fewer big meals.
