BLW went well, now what about milk?

Hello,

thanks to all the advice and support on here i BLW'd my DS and it's all gone fantastically well so far. Now at 11 months he's eating 3 big meals a day and really enjoying it.

I'm back to work in 2 weeks (when he will be 1) and in in preparation for this for the last fortnight we have stopped bF during the day.

I am still doing morning and evening feeds but he will not drink any quantity of milk during the day, he's never been keen on a bottle, will take a few swigs from a cup, but that is it, nothing like a 'feed'. I have been trying to give him formula, but at around one he can start having cows milk instead of formula right? but even then he's i don't think he'll be having any significant amount.

Why is it taht he need to be drinking milk during the day? is it for calcium alone or other nurtrients? and if it is for nutritional reasons are these all met by cows milk?

sorry my questions are a bit odd. i have no faith in my HV so useless asking her and don't really have much of a clue about this next stage

thanks

I wouldn't worry about it if he's having milk in the mornings and evenings. Maybe make sure he has some dairy each day in the form of cheese or yoghurt or something if you are concerned about it

he does have cheese and yoghurt regularly. i was inclined not t worry, i mean i cant force him to drink milk, but you know how it is - one worries

DS was 11 months old when I went back to work part-time. I just bf him morning and evening (oh and odd night feed - grr) but he didn't have any kind of milk during the day when I worked, and he didn't request bm during the day even on my non-working days. He was happy to drink water.
