ok, my ds is 25 weeks ,for the last week he has been having a little bit of baby rice mixed with formula and fruit puree in a morning . He started off as breast fed and when i moved to formula feeding i did it on demand ,like breastfeeding ,which is a bit wasteful but seemed to suit him better . Anyway how long should i stick at just breakfast ? and when should i introduce other meals ? he launches himself at anything i eat/drink and dribbles if im eating and he isnt . Anyone reccomend any good books on weaning ?

I recommend Baby-led Weaning: Helping Your Baby to Love Good Food by Gill Rapley

Yes, or if you want to go down the puree route then look at Annabel Karmel's Baby and Toddler Meal Planner which might help with what to offer when.

You could try giving him steamed soft carrot sticks or other soft veg/fruit while you have your own lunch etc to see how he copes with it. Take it slowly and take your lead from him - there's really no rush for 3 meals a day, particularly as he's only just coming up to 6 months.

And remember that for the next 6 months food is more for experience and practice than actual nutrition. Obviously offer healthy things, increasing the texture and variety as you go, but don't stress out if hardly anything actually makes it into his tummy

thats great thanks ,i think i will stick to the breakfast and add in veggies at other times and see what he thinks
