10 mth old chews sucks and then spits out all lumps

I have been giving my 10 month old baby finger foods since he was 6 months old as well as puree. He enjoys a whole range of finger food but won't swallow any of it. He doesn't like lumps at all in his purees and spits it out although he will eat textured food (although he often spits this out too and it has to be pushed back in to his mouth). I recently saw a 8 month old consume a whole biscuit without spitting out any of it and now I am worried that something isn't quite right. Today I tried giving him yougurt (his favourite) with grated apple (he likes apples too) to make it lumpy. Some of it got swalled but most of the time he simply sucked off the yougurt and spat out the apple shreds.

Any advice on how to move forward would be very much appreciated.
