not eating meat = baby not tolerating meat?

Just wondering and look for some advice pls!

DC3 is nearly 8mo and is the only one for whom I've been a non-meat eater in pregnancy and beyond. I've read before that babies get a taste for things you eat so to be careful about what you eat in pregnancy & while bfing etc ... he has been good with weaning, very willing to try lots of things but very iffy about meat, although not so much with chicken and fish.

Tonight they had lamb & sweet potato stew with cous cous which he wolfed down but has since been violently ill. Proper projectile vomit. Still wanted milk straight after though and then fell asleep.

Do you think that I should go easy on meat with him bc he hasn't been exposed to it in my amniotic fluid and breastmilk, or do you just think that lamb, which is rich anyway, iirc, is best avoided until he's older?

any advice welcome!

I have been a vegetarian since I was 15 and my DS is a real carnivore. His favourite food is steak. When we have roast we don't give him the steak till he's eaten the veg!

Perhaps its the texture she doesn't like, fish and veg is very soft while meat is chewier. Doesn't explain why she would be sick after the meal though

I think red meat can be quite a strong taste cake - more so than chicken or fish - and he might be reacting to that. Unless this happens again I think i would keep trying him occasionally with small amounts and just see what happens.

Hi ltec, was violently averse to meat and fish in my first pg. Ate no fish at all and v little meat. Dd loves both. At 8 mos vomit could be anything from eating too fast to eating on top of a gassy tum to a bit of a bug! So I wouldn't worry and would try again. Nothing like the good times of projectile vomits!

I think that it's probably irrelevant. I eat plenty of meat and definitely did when pregnant and DS hasn't been keen on meat at all until quite recently. He definitely doesn't like "proper" meat like roast chicken etc, but will eat things like chicken nuggets. He doesn't like sausages though. He will sometimes eat mince e.g. in spaghetti bolognese.
