Hi,

I need some advice on what to feed my ds who is now 8 1/2 mths old and has been primarily puree fed. Am currently struggling to feed ds as he has started not being very interestd at all in being fed by myself and a spoon and is reaching for everything in sight.

Please can someone advise exciting finger foods aside from toast, cucumber, strips of meat and veg.

Mnay thanks.

Well you don't have to toast the bread. Put different things on it eg hummus.

fruit eg bits of banana.

Try rice noodles - the thin ones. They don't take long to soak in water and they don't have any gluten etc. but it is hysterical watching a small child play with try and eat them (and they seem to enjoy the texture too).

My 9 month old loves pasta spirals, grapes cut in half, strips of banana, melon, mango, breadsticks, rice cakes, noodles etc!

rice cakes loaded with anything! chilli con carne, bolognese, cheese, houmous with grated cucumber, philly with anything - grated apple/pear / mashed up king prawns with garlic and chopped spinach.

scones / bits of cheese / avocado on toast / all sorts of roasted vege sticks with herbs / boil up some potato fingers and chop finely some rocket, add butter - my DS loves this - he makes his own puree / quiches / omelettes / blueberries on toast / cherry tomatoes with basil - cut in half...

I ended up doing BLW because my DS wouldn't tolerate purees at all. I started with bits just like you described, but now (and some of these things took quite a few tries before he even tried let alone really ate them) he's a huge fan of any bread products - muffins, bagels, toast, wraps, pittas etc - cut into finger shapes with butter, hummus, or cream cheese on. He also loves bits of cheese (feta, cheddar, chesire and red leicester all went down well), pasta shapes (bigger is better for getting a hold of), noodles, shreddies or mini wheats (just with a little milk on), rice cakes, rich tea biscuits (finger shapes), baby crisps, halved berries, slices of fruit (pear, kiwi, mango, plum) and dried fruits (apricots , figs, raisins).

Hope that helps!

Thanks everyone. Have tried quite a few of the above and have found ds loves his finger food even more!!! it felt a little like ground hog day with just giving him toast and cucumber sticks!! thanks again
