Too much food?

My Ds is almost 6 months old. Started weaning him at 4 (his choice not ours), and is a huge boy. He now eats three meals a day (porridge, veg and fruit) and at each meal eats between 1-3 tablespoons!

He has bronchilitis at the moment and has seriously cut down on his milk, which the Dr is not concerned about as it has happened before.

Just wondered if he could be eating too much? I'd like to say he wastes the majority throwing it around, but he rarely does! Just happy to shovel it it! Sits there with his mouth open waiting for the next spoonful! Will happily use his had to shovel it in himself too!

DH concerned as when he was little had a really unhealthy relationship with food and bouncing weight.

Any thoughts?

I wouldn't say that 1-3 tbsps is that much actually! We are in the same position with dd2. She is a week off being 6 months and we started weaning about 10 days ago. Slow at first, but now she is so hungry I am giving her huge portions, and she still looks like she could eat more. She is also still having four 8 or 9oz bottles plus a dream feed of about 4oz, and is showing no real sign of cutting down on this. How can she possibly need to eat this much?!

Everyone says you should let the baby decide how much they have, but this is ridiculous, surely?

Any help for me and OP with greedyguts babies very much appreciated!

mines now gone on a hunger strike. Refusing breastmilk and formula from me or a bottle, and doesn't want to eat anything.

Not sure if something's wrong, or it's just more fun to blow bubbles and spit it everywhere.

Why weren't they born with instructions manuals!

Oh dear! Possibly sickening for something? At least our huge babies have plenty of reserves when they're ill!

Come on everyone, someone must have some general advice on greedy babies?
