dd3 was v. unexpected. As such I have none of my old books left. Looking at advice on the internet is v. contradictory and I'm left feeling v. confused. At 5.5 months I had to give up, she's starving. True to my predicition she LoVES her food. Can't get enough of it. So far she's never turned a spoon away yet I'm half filling her bowl and I'm giving her supper too. Am I feeding her too much - she loves it!

how much milk is she having? milk should alwyas be offered before food

Yes, I'm doing that. She's breast fed so I don't know but my boobs don't feel particularly full i.e. she's not leaving stuff behind

DS is 5.5months and is having 6oz of solids a day - lunch and dinner - am also breastfeeding.

As long as the majority of her food is milk still then don't see the problem, really - that's the only thing that doesn't contradict when it comes to weaning from what I've read!!

I started weaning my 5 month old DD1 a fortnight ago and she's progressing really quickly with the solids. We're on 2 meals a day - 11:30am and 5pm - and from tomorrow I've decided to do breakfast too as I've found that I have to breastfeed her before her morning nap. The amount she takes at each meal is increasing steadily. I always offer milk first but she always has room for solids after! I don't think she's eating too much, I just think she's a healthy, growing baby who has a good appetite, which I'm sure is the case with your DD as well...
