A few BLW questions :)

I'd like to do BLW with ds2. He is 27 weeks.
So far he has sucked a few things and thrown loads on the floor. All normal I know. He is ebf and not feeding any more/longer/etc than he has been for the previous few months. He can sit up all by himself.

We have also tried a bit of puree'd apple and carrot and a mushed rusk with a spoon , have had not much success with this. Occasionaly he's eaten a half teaspoon amount.

So what I am thinking is this, to carry on with the BLW. But...we don't seem to eat many things I'd be happy to give him!!

For example yesterday the dc's had fishfingers, roast pots and veg. I gave him a roast pot and also some mashed potato on his tray. He smeared it all over hs tray and maybe licked a smidgen. He did suck a bit of roasted BN squash actually. Could he have had the fishfinger????? Or a chicken breast chicken goujon (not home made, I'd be happy for him to have that but wondering about from sainsbos)

The day before, the dc's had a pizza express pizza. Could he have had some of that?? I gave him some of the crust to suck.

Also if I made a lasagne , I make my own cheese sauce from scratch but we use a jar for the red sauce (dh doesn't really like it with tinned toms) would that be too salty/processed for him. I'm saying this but in reality he prob wont even eat any atall lol

How about soups? Like Covent garden soups?? I was having the pea and ham one and wondered if he could have a bit of that. Please don't say 'make your own' cos I know I wont!!

And can he have baked beans or scrambled egg yet??

So far I've tried rice cakes, rusks, roast veg, bread, toast, bagel (sort of liked ths), lightly cooked apple halves, orange wedges (he liked this), pineapple, tortilla wrap, a chip,...can't think fo any more.

Thank you

Mmmm, not really sure about the processed food like fishfingers and sauce from a jar as like you say, they're not really supposed to have too much salt and sugar. Having said that, obviously bread and cheese have salt in them so I suppose it's about the quantity that they are consuming.(not much probably at this stage).

I've not long started blw myself and have so far done roasted veg, rice cakes with cream cheese, stir fry with noodles, pitta bread, most fruits, avocado and a few things like savoury muffins and fishcakes, yoghurt, porridge etc.

I was told that eggs are fine from 6 months, not sure about the baked beans.

Sorry I don't really seem to have answered your question very well- maybe some more experienced blweaners will be along soon!

Thanks I wasn't sure about them either.

But everyone says the whole point of BLW is that they eat what you're eating...rather than faff about making different things.

Yes, you're right princessmel, but I think that applies to things that you have made yourself and can therefore regulate the amount of salt and sugar added to them.
