nursery giving 8mth old cow's milk

I just discovered today that nursery has been giving our 8month old baby cow's milk. I'm really cross and now wondering if this has had anything to do with the fact that she's recently got eczema. Also she's had a dip in her weight before she's crawling. Anyone know if there's a link?

Cow's milk as drink instead of formula or breastmilk do you mean?

were they giving it as a drink or part of a meal e.g. cereal? I wouldnt be happy if it was a drink but small amounts of cows milk are ok in food and cereal from 6 months.

What's her normal milk? Cows milk has less calories than breastmilk and (I think) formula so could be the reason.

Ok - it's in the cereal only and she's been getting formula for her bottle.

She's still breastfed morning and evening

Cows milk is just another form of food that gets added to the diet. Not a bad thing to do if she is still having her formula and / or bm.

Panic over then! Standard formula is derived from cow's milk so it's unusal to be ok on normal formula and then have a reaction to cow's milk.

Post on the allergies thread about that eczema. Sometimes dairy can make it worse but I would see your GP before you start cutting out food groups from your baby's diet.

There's nothing wrong with cow's milk in small quantities at that age although if she has recently got eczema, I'd ask them to give her formula with her cereal and see if it sorts it out.

Cows milk on cereal or in cooking is fine from 6 months
