Too much fibre for toddler?

Does anyone have any advice about what breakfast cereals to offer my toddler. He has been alternating between weetabix, shreddies or other plain type wholegrain cereal.

However, I am finding his nappies to be a nightmare. I would like to find some cereals that are not packed with sugar, but are nutritious, and not very high in fibre, as I think he is getting too much.

He gets loads of fibre from brown bread, fruit etc.

Thanks in advance

weetabix makes for horrific nappies IME.. you could try oatibix instead (found this helped a bit)

What about readybrek?

you could always do fruit and yogurt for breakfast
or boiled egg and toast (although my DS loves dipping breadsticks instead)

Maybe I will skip cereal altogether for breakfast for a bit, and do fruit yogurt and toast. He is not overly keen on porridge, however the times he has eaten it, his nappies were fine. Is the weetabix just too fibery?

we totally avoid weetabix for this reason! They create dark brown, particularly stink nappies that seem to disintegrate into 'poo crumbs' as DS calls them

hence the oatibix (which is fine)

Technically young children shouldn't be having brown bread you know - it fills them up too much without them getting enough calories. You might find it easier to switch to white bread and keep up with the weetabix.

Or you could try raisin wheats.
Or eggs.

We have Shredded Wheat (the Tesco version) and don't notice anything untoward about the nappies. Although he doesn't have it every day.

a mix of white and brown is fine - they just arent supposed to have fully wholegrain rice, pasta, bread, cereal, etc until the age of 5.
