How long to continue with baby rice

I started weaning DS about 4 weeks ago (he's just turned 6 months). I now give him a variety of purees at lunchtime, but dinner is just baby rice with pear puree. This has worked well for us so far - he wolfs it down and has dropped his night feeds. However I know I can't keep giving him baby rice forever. How long do people usually keep going with the baby rice? Any suggestions for filling but easily digestible dinners?

My DS is 8 months and I havent ever used baby rice, after 6 months they can have anything really.

Favourite meals for my DS are:

Cauliflower cheese - sometimes add salmon to it too
Homemade soup - put some bread in to give it more texture which makes it easier to feed
Roast dinner as finger food - without the gravy!
Eggy bread - he loves that

Hope that gives you some ideas.

At 6 months they can have what you're eating, minus salt, whole nuts or honey. DS will only eat if stealing from my plate, I've discovered.

Thanks for the ideas. I need to get cooking!

we still use it at 1yo but only to thicken things like soup that we're having.
