Ds2 is 3 days off 5 months, can sit and hold himself up properly and has been interested in food for a while.
Today whilst in a cafe he picked up a chip from my plate, took it straight to his mouth and ate it no gagging, no spitting it out, just chewed it and swallowed looking very pleased with himself!

So I guess he's decided he's ready. Am so pleased as I almost went down the puree route but he didn't seem to agree with that.

I have the Gill Rapley book and have read it, but am still not confident I know what to do now. Obviously I am not planning on feeding him chips so what do you mumsnetters suggest?

Am going back to work in 3 weeks (3 days a week) so would love it if he got right into it and my confidence soared enough so I felt able to ask the CM to carry on with what we're doing.

All advice gratefully recieved

We've just started BLW too and DS is having pretty much the same food as us (although mainly not swallowing stuff). We're trying to eat fresh food & healthy, tasty things with lots of variety and cutting bits up for DS into decent sized pieces so he can pick them up and hold on to them or loading spoons with food like yoghurt and giving them to him.
