Dropping bf left, right and centre and BLW - is this OK?

Our DTs are nearly 7 months and have been (mostly) BLW (except porridge where both babies and I have spoons) since 6 months. They are absolutely stuffing food in - porridge, sandwiches, fruit, veg, pasta, casserole - you name it!

They have been fully bf up till now - about 6 feeds during the day and one sleeps through, the other feeds a couple of times at night. I bf on demand.

Yesterday, they had a bf first thing, big breakfast of porridge and banana, early lunch of avo sandwiches and slices of pear, and they didn't want another bf till 4pm!!! (I had to express to avoid exploding!).

I offer water after each meal and they do drink some - maybe 2 oz - nothing like as much as they used to drink from me.

Is this normal? Will they get dehydrated? Sorry to be dim.

Wees and poos fine - one Dt (the one that doesn't feed at night) has got firmer, but still soft, poos.

Thanks in advance for experiences / advice.

It sounds fine to me. If their poos are ok and they're producing three or four wet nappies a day, then they aren't going to be dehydrated. I think by that age, as long as you offer them plenty of fluids, they'll take what they need.

I salute you coping with two. Very impressed

Well they're 7 months and you haven't broken either of them yet.

That sounds fine to me!! I posted a similar thread on here when DD was younger. She cut down bf really quickly as she took to blw instantly and was too excited during the day to bf. She cut down (roughly) to 6 feeds a day pretty much straight away at 6 months (from 10-12!!), then to 4 feeds at 8 months then to 2 feeds from 10 months.

DD wouldn't drink water at all until recently, and now only has 3oz a day and 1 or 2 bf (she's 15 months)

HTH
