BLW questions

So, DS2 will be 6 mths tomorrow. He's had a bit of baby rice and mashed banana but also enthusiastically gummed a rice cake. Do I need to pick one way of weaning and stick to it or can I do a mixture of finger food and purees?

Also, how quickly do you build up the meals with BLW - do we just offer him things whenever we're eating?

Thanks! I'm sure I'll have more questions as we go along!

Loads of people on Mumsnet (myself included) are doing a mix of purées and finger food. That way he practises chewing and learns to self-feed but you can get some food in him, as it often takes months before they eat much with BLW.

Yes, just offer him something whenever you're eating - he won't be able to eat much at first so the amount he eats will naturally build up gradually.

Enjoy the mess!
