BLW - food in mouth for the 1st time today

No real point to posting this but am just very pleased and wanted to share (silly, I know).

DD (7 months this week) managed to actually put a piece of melon in her mouth today, chewed it, made a series of strange faces, and then swallowed it!

This after weeks of picking food up, squidging it, smearing it around, dropping it, examining it closely, and then usually flinging it onto the floor, with not one morsel passing her lips.

Not today though. Hooray!!

Woo Hoo!! NOt remotely silly for wanting to share such a momentous day! Enjoy [inserts emoticon of big applause]

Congratulations! This gives me hope. We are one month behind you, ds 6mo, and can't imagine him ever eating any of his food. Playing with it and ignoring it is all he does .

Thanks CoonRapids. At the beginning I was all over-excited about BLW and expected DD to just start shovelling food in from the word go.

Sadly, as it turns out, she wasn't aware that she'd turned 6 months and was expected to!

I posted a couple of threads asking about BLW and how long it takes to get going - a really mixed bag of responses from more or less immediate to over 10 months.

It'll just suddenly happen & then you too can do a little dance around the kitchen

lol at 'picking food up, squidging it, smearing it around, dropping it, examining it closely, and then usually flinging it onto the floor, with not one morsel passing her lips.' gosh never thought this might happen

at her putting melon in her mouth - she did it!

I totally understand you sharing this, OP. I'm telling anyone who will listen that DS actually ingested some broccoli, and I have evidence in the form of seedy bits in his nappy.
