To cut along story short we've decided to start ds on solids as he's draining 35+ oz of formula a day and still crying for more. Was bf up until 2 weeks ago but was feeding constantly, this had been going on for weeks.

He's a big baby, can sit up and is v interested in food. he can accurately put objects in his mouth, no problem.

have tried mushy foods but he purses his lips and bats the spoon away but when holdig the spon is v keen on the food, also loved chewing a piece of banana I gave him but wouldn't accept banana mash of a spoon.

Wasn't really fussed about blw and was going to do a mix of finger foods and mush anayway but as he's so rlucatnt to take food from me but ffed himself I wondered if anyone esle had started finger foods at 5 months?

Don't want to persist with the spoon feeding but as it's a battle but really think he's ready for more than milk.

hi minx, we've started offering stuff to my nearly-21 week old DS as he's sitting/getting anything and everything to his mouth. only started yesterday, but he was fascinated by it, and although i doubt much went in, he enjoyed the new experiences (carrot and banana, how thrilling!)
with BLW, I think the baby lets you know when he's had enough/is ready for more. you just give them the opportunities, and let them do what they want.
