Your DD does look like she's loving her food in those pics though Galena - she has a gorgeous smile! Mad that she eats laying down! Ds can drink sitting upright or laying completely flat, but has always had to be sitting up for any solid food.

Longtalljosie · 15/02/2010 16:57

I wouldn't say she does Galena - neithewr of the Youtube babies looked up to holding a spoon...

WorzselMummage · 15/02/2010 16:58

I loved your pics galena but you won't get any comments about them on here because your here to defend yourself

WorzselMummage · 15/02/2010 17:00

My ds can't hold a spoon now and he's 14 months old.

edwardcullensotherwoman · 15/02/2010 17:06

mine was the same worzel - finally got his spoon-mouth coordination at about 20mo!!

StealthPolarBear · 15/02/2010 17:08

"Baby girl you need to swallow that stuff" dad (?) says near the end of the first one. It's called tongue thrust
Second one is awful, that baby is being force fed

ChairmumMiaow · 15/02/2010 17:09

Just to take away the horror, here are a couple of a baby enjoying himself (please ignore the awful PFB commentary ;-) )

galena- your baby looks to be sitting up, holding a spoon, being presented with solid food to eat herself.

the babies on youtube look about ds's age (11/12wks) they aren't sitting up, they are being fed between screams.

StealthPolarBear · 15/02/2010 17:11

Galena just glanced at your pics - your dd is lovely and looks a lot more advanced! After all she's holding a spoon - no way those babies could and i doubt 5mo dd could feed hreself with one.
Although it does look in the 1st pic as though you are weaning her on a sugar cube, so consider yourself judged

StealthPolarBear · 15/02/2010 17:12

I think you can also tell by the way the eyes are focussed - Galena's dd is looking at the camera
(you're going to tell me she was 6 weeks, aren't you?)

HellBent · 15/02/2010 17:13

Who posted the comments! It's awful to see a baby like that isn't it

Galena · 15/02/2010 17:17

Thanks for the comments...

Ah yes, she's holding a spoon, but the second picture is of her far more recently - 3 months after we started weaning. And while she can get the spoon to her mouth I have to spoon feed her as she can't actually get food off the spoon if she holds it herself.

In the first photo she was 5.5 mo and couldn't get spoon to mouth (And I'd like to point out it was baby rice, not a sugar cube!). The second pic was Christmas day when she was 8mo and I ended up spoon feeding her, but she was far more... hands on!

However, I have NEVER forced food into her when she is screaming, and I agree the videos are crass and awful, I was just playing devil's advocate!

HellBent · 15/02/2010 17:17

Should be -

Who posted the comments!

I'm not laughing at the babies but the comments on the second link that were 15 minutes old!

sweetkitty · 15/02/2010 17:19

Why would you force food into your crying, distressed child's mouth, whilst filming it and putting it on youtube?

ruddynorah · 15/02/2010 17:54

oh dear the comments have been deleted! the mother is cross

HellBent · 15/02/2010 18:04

Apparently so daddy can see them! Quite why he would want to see his little baby crying and being force fed I am not sure!
