Is this a phase - 12mo spitting food out!

Not sure if this is the right forum as DS is fully weaned, but wasn't sure where else to post it.

DS is just over 12mo, never been the world's best eater, but was never the world's best milk drinker either - have just put it down to him not being that much of a hungry baby. He was 7 weeks prem so is little anyway, but weight gain has been relatively ok.

Anyway, DS is on 3 meals a day (mixture of home cooked/finger food/ready made stuff) with a couple of snacks depending on what we are doing that day. He also has a bottle morning/before bed. He also has a little milk drink mid afternoon. Recently he has started to spit food out - regardless of what it is. This isn't a "lumps" thing because he was doing it with soup today. He is doing it with food I know he usually loves.

Anyone any experience/advice.

Thanks for reading.

Sounds disgusting but fairly typical .

My DS who is now 4 still does this occasionally and I think prob started doing it at about this age.

Try your best to ignore it,praise him when he eats 'nicely' and invest in some bigger bibs is the only advice I can offer.

Hi,

We've been thru (still going thru?) this recently. My DS is 14mo was really picky for a while and rejected any purees even ones he loved before. He used to eat almost anything I put in front of him so very frustrating to know what to give him. He's a bit better now - will eat certain favourites but rejects anything new. I put it down to lumps but then he ate a lumpy one yesterday and shouted for more!

I tried cheese sarnies and he loves them so we fall back on them and other finger food when he won't eat his purees.

Sometimes it's hard to find the reason and they will suddenly start to eat again. All I can suggest is grit your teeth and keep offering.
