Almost 7mo now refusing solids

Hi,

My daughter will be 7mo on Saturday. Weaning had been going well, with the quantites and variety increasing - she was eating c.6 cubes at lunch, 4 at breakfast and 4 at tea.

For the last couple of days, she has been cutting right back on the solids - today she has refused solids at lunch and tea. Even things she previously lapped up.

Any help or suggestions much appreciated - it is worrying me!

Firstly, remember, at 7mo she doesn't NEED solids, all her nutrition is coming from her milk, so you needn't worry that she isn't taking solids. Secondly, might she be teething/coming down with a bug? When my DD is feeling under the weather, the first thing which goes is the solids. If she's happily having her milk, then don't push the solids for a while (or try her with finger foods - DD loves chips, broccoli, cauliflower, rice cakes, etc).

I've tried to be very relaxed with DD and her food - if she started crying I'd stop, whether she'd had much or not. It means now she tends to be a really good eater.

Hope this helps.

Could she be teething? Or just about to come down with a cold? My DD used to reduce just before either of these.

It feels like such a step backwards. Don't worry though. I found that after she recovered she took to it again with real enthusiasm.

Just keep offering the choice and she will pick in back up when she is ready.
